Prepare your household for an earthquake by creating a specific plan. Identify safe spots in each room, establish meeting places (near and far), outline communication strategies, and share the plan with all members.

Acclimatization

Prevent altitude sickness in mountainous terrain by acclimatizing properly. Ascend slowly, especially above 8,000 feet (limit ~1,000 feet elevation gain per day for sleeping altitude), include rest days, hydrate well, and eat carbohydrates.

  • Plan ascent profile carefully: limit sleeping elevation gain to 1000-1500 ft per day above 8000-10000 ft.
  • Incorporate rest days (no elevation gain) every 3000 ft.
